Tips for Increasing Your Social Media Engagement in 2022

By Debbie Roy on April 12, 2022 No Comments

If 2022 is the year that you want to grow your engagement on social media, you’re in the right place.

Remember this, as it will save you a lot of time. “It’s about consistency, connection, and community building.” Yes, you also need a good strategy.

If your focus is on the number of times you think you should post vs. creating connection and community, how much engagement do you think you will really get? And will that engagement be from your ideal clients?

Here are some tips for increasing your social media engagement in 2022.

Tips for Increasing Your Social Media Engagement in 2022

Promote Your Business Using Videos

Social media engagement is all about having a long-term, consistent presence that earns you loyal followers and eventually brings customers to your business.

Here are some video ideas for your social media efforts.

Behind-the-Scenes Look

It’s always nice to give consumers a behind-the-scenes look at how things work and introduce them to your team members (not just products). And don’t be afraid to create more personal content like vlogs (video blogs) using low-quality equipment from home!

Create Day In The Life Videos

A day in the life video is a short clip that shows what it’s like to be you, to work where you work or simply the behind-the-scenes of your day-to-day life as a busy entrepreneur. You can use voice-over to narrate your journey. You’ve probably seen plenty on TikTok or Instagram.

Answer some Q&A’s

Any industry and every business owner always receives a lot of questions about their products and services. One question can easily become one short Q&A video.

If some of these videos are longer and you’ve already published them on another platform, it’s a great opportunity to repurpose something you’ve already created to increase your reach!

Give Your Content a Human Touch, Forget About Perfection

To increase your social media engagement, you should tell a story. Stories are more engaging than just posting about your product or service. And if you’re not sure what to say, here are some examples of stories:

  • Stories about how your business started and why you love it.
  • Stories about customers or clients.
  • Stories about your team or employees.
  • Stories that feature the good work you do in the community.

People relate to people, and seeing the faces behind the brand always helps!

Share Behind-The-Scenes Videos

Let’s dig into behind-the-scenes videos a bit more. While posting only official, highly polished videos on your social media feeds may be tempting, you definitely want to consider mixing in some unedited videos.

Behind-the-scenes footage can be a great way of showing your company culture and the types of things that goes on inside your organization.

This creates a sense of transparency and trustworthiness that can encourage engagement with your followers. It also allows customers to get to know you on a more personal level and helps them feel connected to your brand or business as a whole.

Some ideas for behind-the-scenes videos include:

  • A short tour of your office space.
  • A clip from an employee’s birthday party celebration.
  • An interview with one of your clients about their experience working with you.

Make it Easier for People to Share Your Content

You want your content to be shared? Make it easy. Of course, you can’t control how engaged people are with your content, but there are some things you can do to make it more likely they’ll share what they find engaging.

Add social sharing buttons – whether that means “pin it” buttons on images or a simple row of your social icons at the end of each post.

If someone loves something they read or see on your website and want to share it with their network, don’t make it hard for them. The better experience you provide, the more likely your content will get shared. Give them the option to click and share immediately.

Embed social media posts – it’s always a good idea to embed some of your best performing posts or posts where you would like to draw more attention.

Make sure everything is easy enough for anyone to find…and then just as easy for them to share!

Social media marketing requires lots of effort, but don’t give up if you’re not seeing results yet.

Social media success isn’t usually achieved overnight. In fact, it takes lots of effort and a good amount of time to see the results you want.

When it comes to boosting your social media marketing strategy as a whole, one of the most crucial things to do is stay consistent and patient.

Even if you think your progress seems small or nonexistent, keep going and continually work to adjust your strategy.
